Look at Yourself
For Once
For Once
Why do you take my picture?
Almost 40,
exhausted
shoulders curl,
laugh wrinkles
shadowed
by the scars,
overweight,
pale sallow
sunken skin,
straight
over-processed hair,
big feet with
nails cut to the vessels,
target
clothes too small,
tired
eyes mask pain.
When I see the images
I wonder
if you plan
to reveal
me,
show me
what I have
become or simply
take
advantage of
an opportunity
to bring the attention
from you to
me
Let me
have
the damn camera.
Almost 40,
exhausted
shoulders curl,
laugh wrinkles
shadowed
by the scars,
overweight,
pale sallow
sunken skin,
straight
over-processed hair,
big feet with
nails cut to the vessels,
target
clothes too small,
tired
eyes mask pain.
When I see the images
I wonder
if you plan
to reveal
me,
show me
what I have
become or simply
take
advantage of
an opportunity
to bring the attention
from you to
me
Let me
have
the damn camera.
